27 December 2015, update May 2016.
I can now say that ACC has come to the party and have done EVERYTHING they said they would, They have supplied a drive from wheelchair van.
I know that most people here are pissed with ACC and maybe I am the only claimant that is happy with ACC.
It took time (3 years 9 months) and a container load of patience to get this result.
One very important thing I did right from the start of my negotiations was to be pleasant and polite, This I believe was noted and obviously helped.
I also keep records of all my dealings with Hospital's, Specialist's, Doctor's, Dates, Times, Name of those I saw, etc, etc. (You can never keep too many records).
My advice to those of you that have an issue with ACC is:
1: DON'T loose your rag (Hostility is pointless).
2: Be Polite and show respect (yes it is blardy hard to do this),
3: DON'T go to ACC demanding anything from them (You will be shown the door).
4: Ask if something is possible (their reply may just astound you).
5: ACC is just like any other Insurance Company (You need to PROVE your case).
6: KEEP ALL of your own records.
My injury was sustained in 2004 so in total it has taken over 12 years to reach this positive outcome. In a little over a year from now I will be applying for compensation. This no doubt will begin another long drawn out process. Why am I waiting to apply for compensation?, Because ACC's own rules dictate that a period of 2 years must have passed since the last visit to a specialist or had treatment for a permanent injury before compensation claims can be filed. Therefore I have a little over a year before the battle begins again.
